Soybean Oil
Soybean oil is extracted from beans of the soy plant. They grow in pods after the blossom period. Initially, soybeans contain a high content of protein, predominantly used for animal feed and increasingly in retail products such as vegetarian products and soymilk.
This crop mainly originates from producers in the USA, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, and Canada.
Contents
Soybean oil consists of long chains of unsaturated fatty acids. Linoleic fatty acid (C 18:2) is the main element at 55% and omega 3 (C 18:3) fatty acid at 7% is considered to contribute to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol concentrations.
Applications
Soybean oil is highly unsaturated and remains liquid at room temperature. It is specifically suited for food, as well as non-food applications.
